Meet the Browns
Meet the Browns (2008)

IMDB rating: 3.00

Plot: A single mom takes her family to Georgia for the funeral of her father — a man she never met. There, her clan is introduced to the crass, fun-loving Brown family.

Directors: Perry Tyler

Actors: Perry Tyler,Perry Tyler,Mann David,Gross Lance,Fox Rick,Faison Frankie,Rucker Lamman,Comedy,Drama,Romance,

How do characters sound?
The characters don’t have anyother clothes because they don’t pack for where they’re going. But when they get to where they’re going they will get new stuff.

Name-Logan Crest
Age-15
Personality-He is brave, mysterious, independent, and the type of person who can be nice, but when he gets mad he can be really mean.
Description-5′ 10", Blonde hair, Grey eyes, has a scar on his palm, wears black fingerless gloves, a black t-shirt, dark blue jeans with rips in them, and a grey jacket.

Name-Gwen Golden
Age-14
Personality-She is caring, adventurous, and isn’t affraid to speak her mind.
Description-5′ 5", Brown hair, Green eyes, wears a blue crystal necklace, a white t-shirt with a blue fox on it, and light blue jeans.(Girls please tell me how I could improve her looks. I’m only a guy HAHA.)

(Yes these next guys coming up are the constillations)
Name-Aquarius
Age-19
Personality-He is optimistic, and loves to hang-loose and have fun.
Description-6′ 1", Black hair, Blue eyes, wears a blue t-shirt with a wave on it, tan shorts, and sandals.(The other characters wear tennis shoes. Just because I didn’t say they wear shoes on their description doesn’t mean they don’t.)

Name- Sagittarius
Age-20
Personality-He is adventurous, and is very sneaky(which helps for hunting).
Description-6′ 2", Brown hair, Brown eyes, wears a bow and quiver, grey t-shirt, camo pants, and a hunting knif strapped to his leg.

Name-Orion
Age- 21
Personality-He is protective, wise, and is a natural born leader.
Description- 6′ 3", Blonde hair, Blue eyes, has 3 claw marks on his chest, wears a shelid and sword, a lion fur jacket with the lions head as the hood(you understand if you’ve heard of Orion), and tan cargo pants.

The plae that Logan and Gwen are going to is The Forest Of Argentum(which means silver). There they meet Aquarius, Sagittarius, and Orion. I will post part of my story later so you understand more.
If anyone has any ideas for more girl or boy characters I would appreciate it.
I need some constellation girls and human girls like Gwen. Aquarius is a guy because I saw a picture of Aquarius being a guy.
Is Gwen to short? Is Logan to tall?
Here is the place they’re going to…

Your characterization is good. Its interesting that you’ve used two zodiac signs, and used them to your advantage by following form on their individual meanings.

As I don’t know what the story is completely about - I’m just going by what you’ve posted so far. Okay…

* I’ve noticed a big age gap between the two characters, Logan and Gwen, compared to the other three boys. I don’t know if thats how you want it to be. But the gap is pretty significant. If your writing for young adults - then a few teenagers would reckon 21 is pretty old, haha. Just my opinion.

* Gwen - if you want to add a girl’s perceptive… her hair could be in a ponytail with a green or golden bow. Both colours will bring out her eyes, and it adds a bit of femininity. You could personalize it by a tiny love heart on her inner wrist - one she draws on with a red pen - or a gold star sticker on the corner of her eye.

* You’ve got five strong characters. To even up the playing field I’d suggest to give a few other characters some down points, or even your main ones. Not all can be perfect. I like that you’ve said Logon can be mean. Maybe give a bit of that to the other characters too… example: because gwen is adventurous, she’s a bit of a risk taker and has broken a few bones before the age of 14. Or Gwen isn’t afraid to speak her mind, so she way too honest for her own good. Etc.

Anyway if you blow off what I suggested - your characterization is still good.
Its just helpful tips. :P

I think that your descriptions are fairly good. I have no suggestions at this time. :) AJ | Feb 07, 2010

Why are all the constellation characters guys? I think Aquarius should be a female, personally.
Julian Greystoke | Feb 07, 2010

I think it sounds interesting. The character’s names are good, as are the descriptions. Will the three older guys’ names have anything to do w/ their actions or their personality? I hope I helped!
U Knu U Luv Anna | Feb 07, 2010

1. Doesn’t seem to me you have a Mary Sue or Gary Stu… a big plus in your favor.*

2. Understand why the constellations are represented by tall, older guys. Good job.

3. The clothes seem fine to me.
They’re simple and not overly described, nor so rigid they limit a character. It seems frequent for new writers to put too many details in characterization ideas. That can ultimately limit plot advancement.

4. Hope you do have a plot in mind already. It seems so.
Schooling taught me plot drives characters rather than the other way around. Experience has too.

5. I like what names you provide fairly well.
To find more, suggest your phone book. If you want an online search suggest http://www.babynamer.com , where you get meanings of names and their history too.

Good luck with this.

If you want post work at a site a bit more protected and also more international (and usually writers a bit older who do great stuff) suggest http://www.writerscafe.org

It’s free; you only have to give as much info as you want; you get lots to read and review and for each review, that person gets an invite to also review what you write.

There are contests (meaningless: Except for a larger audience for your piece(s)..) and lots more happening there in a "clean, well-lighted place."

PS. Ignore the ’self-publication’ junk I last saw there… they seem to lurk on every writers’ site.
..jeez, you didn’t even ask for that… *sigh*… all links here are safe.

Also there are three painters: Nathan, his brother Alex, and Alex’s dim friend Ozzie. That afternoon Ozzie and Alex find the Leprechaun’s gold, and Ozzie accidentally releases Leprechaun from his crate and he goes on a killing spree and terrorizes the four friends, trying to get his missing gold coin back. Finally they learn the only way to destroy it is to go find Dan O’Grady, thinking he may know a way. They find him at a rest home, he tells them a four leaf clover is the only way. So now Tory and her friends must find a four leaf clover in a big clover patch before Leprechaun finds them!

PrinnyDoodLol | Feb 04, 2010

I bet he’s saying mean and scary things to hide feelings of insecurity and low self-worth. He’s getting on the defensive because if he can attack you first he starts with the upper hand, lessening the risk of humiliation or degradation that may come from you. Living in the attic is lonely- he possibly feels shunned and excluded from society and is unsure as to how to integrate himself, maybe previous perceived abandonment or betrayal have made it difficult for him to trust others or have left him with a poor opinion of himself. I think you need to show the leprechaun kindness and some generosity of spirit- you could invite him out to see a film or order a pizza and see if he wants to share? You might find that initially he’s resistant and you may feel like giving up but persevere- over time he may well let his guard down and the tirade of abuse you receive when you go into the attic disappears. Give him time and space though because learning to trust again is a long and difficult process. He’s probably desperate to reach out to you but feels he doesn’t know how.

Must-Have Google Search Skills
13.10.09

Most everyone uses Google search these days, but most people never get beyond the basic technique of putting words in the text box and pressing the search button.  While this search method will usually find the result you need, it may require a time-wasting journey through page after page of results to actually track down the specific information you had in mind.

The goal with a Google search is to find the link you want on the very first page of results.  If it isn’t there, then you need to narrow your search parameters.  Don’t go through the time consuming task of searching page after page of search results.  Instead, laser your search criteria and let Google do the hard work for you.

So how do you do that?  Below are some simple tips that will help you find specific information more efficiently.

1) Quotes When searching for terms that are conveyed with multiple words, put them in quotations.  If you search for information on the movie Princess Diaries, you will get results for every princess who ever traipsed through a child’s storybook, and every personal diary that was ever posted on the web.  Include quotes around “Princess Diaries” and it will exclude entries that do not have those two words appearing right next to each other.

This is especially helpful when searching for quotes from other people.  Do you have a few words from a quote in your head but you aren’t sure of the context or who said it?  Put “four score and seven years ago” in quotes and the Gettysburg address appears right at the top of the search list.  Entries that include a football score, the Four Seasons hotel and The Wonder Years will be excluded.

2) Negative keywords Barney Fife -dinosaur -music

This will exclude entries that have these two words on the page.  It is important that the negative sign be right next to the word.  Make sure there are no spaces.  Use as many negative keywords as you like.  This is especially helpful when searching for people’s names on Google.  For example, there is a real estate professor at the University of Sydney with my identical name. When I search for hits on my name, I include the negative keywords:

Short Story………………………?
I’m thirteen and love to write fantasy, romances, and horror stories, but being someone who wants to be an author, I wanted to try stepping out of my comfort zone by writing a short story that is nothing like any of my other stories. Any good?

I held my breath as my window creaked. I felt relieved, yet depressed, when I heard the steady sobs from my mother continuing in the next room. I cracked my window open farther and stuck my toe out to feel around for the large branch that poked out right beneath my window. When I felt it, I carefully climbed out onto it and took a deep breath. I leapt from the branch and landed on the soft earth below. Then, I started walking.

I lived out of town so for the most part; all I saw was trees, grass, and the occasional owl. I ignored them, however, and kept walking. I did not have a specific destination; I just wanted air. I didn’t

Plot: A Sunday in the life of Derrick King, an Irish kid raised in South Central L.A. by a Black family. He talks Black, dresses Black, and thinks of himself as Black. I won’t bore you with the details. But basically, I’m a nice guy who keeps getting taken advantage of, and people treat me like crap.

I’m tired. I want to learn to be badass.

You don`t get anywhere being Mr Nice,Right? Well I disagree. You are mr nice guy, this is you, it doesnt mean you need to be a doormat though. You can be nice to those around you and yourself. Just take a few seconds to think whether or not you want to allow this to be. Even Mr Nice has to say NO. Sometimes it is kinder to stop and say NO. Be true to yourself always. As for scoundrels and wide o`s they learn the trade in the dark dark big house.

if something happens to you for the first time, it’s not your fault but if it happens to you the second time …..

you know what here’s what you can try doing; think about the last situation that happened, think of all the second person said and did and think of the way you said stuff and did stuff. like he could have been nice to you for a while coz he wanted something or wanted u to do something and then he just must have cut contact. what you can do is realize that people accept u to do stuff for them therefore they are nice to you.
you could either stop giving favour or put up a price tag for stuff u do for them or in exchange ask them do something.
all u need to do is analyse the situation and u will get the solutions, the first many will be the trial and error type but eventually u’ll master all your tactics and become an intelligent person and a less frustrated one.

What's the name of this genre?
I’m looking for the name of a specific type of music. This type of music is generally happy, safe for children, (but not usually the target audience) and upbeat. I’m told its possibly ‘Bubblegum’. But I vaguely recall hearing it called something with an s like snoogle or something like that. Songs in my head are Walking on Sunshine and I Want Candy.

I’m not looking for your opinions of good music or anyone saying ‘omg pop is like that.’ etc. Just possible subgenre names.
